How many robots do you need?
Enter your load, distance and trips per hour. The calculator recommends a GOAT robot, estimates fleet size and — if you add costs — the payback period. Free, instant, no sign-up.
Your estimate
5 × GT-400
Intralogistics carrier, rated 400 kg, 1.2 m/s
- Round trip
- 423 s
- Trips per robot per hour
- 8.5
- Trips per day
- 320
- Fleet distance per day
- 76.8 km
Includes charging time: 8 h runtime, 4 h charge. Autonomous opportunity charging between tasks can reduce the fleet.
How this is calculated
- The recommended model is the lightest GOAT robot of the selected type rated for your load.
- Round trip = 2 × distance ÷ (max speed × average-speed factor) + handling time.
- If daily hours exceed the robot’s runtime, available time is reduced by the charging ratio (runtime ÷ (runtime + charge time)).
- Robots = trips per hour ÷ (trips per robot per hour × availability × utilisation), rounded up.
- Payback = (robots × price + integration) ÷ (people × shifts × monthly cost). Shifts = operating hours ÷ 8, rounded up.
This is a first estimate. Traffic, intersections, lifts, doors and charging strategy are modelled during our site assessment.

Frequently asked questions
How many AMRs do I need?
Divide the trips you need per hour by the trips one robot can complete per hour, then allow for charging and a utilisation margin. One robot’s trips per hour depend on distance, speed and load/unload time. The calculator above does this with GOAT robot specifications.
How accurate is this estimate?
It is a first-order estimate for planning and budgeting. Our engineers refine it in a site assessment by modelling traffic, intersections, lifts, doors and charging strategy — the same approach described in our article on simulation for fleet sizing.
Why do I need to enter the robot price?
Prices depend on configuration, top modules, integration and quantity, so we don’t publish list prices. Enter the figure from your GOAT quote to see a payback period, or request a quote.
